ASN/ERA-EDTA/ISN Global Nephrology Workforce Survey

ASN, ERA-EDTA, and ISN Launch Collaborative Effort to Examine Global Nephrology Workforce
The American Society of Nephrology (ASN), the European Renal Association–European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA), and the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) have launched a global nephrology workforce research project to determine what a nephrologist is across the world. Comparing Realities Across the Global Nephrology Workforce Survey, one of three ASN/ERA-EDTA/ISN joint efforts, will offer kidney health professionals a better understanding of the specialty by characterizing the kidney health workforce at the country- and region-specific level in terms of nephrologists' training, certification, and scope of practice; the number of nephrologists per country; and the range of kidney care provided by other physicians and non-physicians. The Global Nephrology Workforce Survey is being distributed to 260 leaders of national nephrology organizations and medical societies in 167 countries.

Leaders of national nephrology organizations and medical associations in the countries in blue have received the Survey.

The survey instrument is available in three languages—English, French, and Spanish—and the 33 questions cover nephrologist demographics (including FTE physicians), training requirements for adult and pediatric nephrologists, and clinical practice patterns. If you have any questions about the Global Nephrology Workforce Survey or the collaboration between ASN, ERA-EDTA, and ISN, please contact ASN Data Science Officer Kurtis Pivert at kpivert@asn-online.org.
